Volkswagen’s electric ID. R wins Goodwood shootout

R electric prototype ended the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed as the winner with a hillclimb shootout with a time of 42.32 seconds, but this wasn’t the fastest the all-electric machine went over the weekend.Driven by Romain Dumas, the I.D. R made the run in 41.18s on Friday and then on Saturday Dumas went faster still with a 39.9s run up the Goodwood hillclimb course – well clear of Nick Heidfeld’s 41.6s record, set back in 1999 at the wheel of a McLaren MP4/13 Formula One car.
Synchronised drifting with Kamaz and Lexus
The 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed featured a dizzying range of world firsts and celebrations of motoring and motorsport history, and one of the most spectacular sights featured a unique little and large synchronised dance.The mammoth Kamaz truck and a Lexus X AD2 drift car tore up the tarmac in the arena for the world’s first tandem drift providing a sight it is safe to say you don’t see every day…or any day for that matter.And here’s a bit more of the awesome Lexus for good measure…Goodwood FOS✔@fosgoodwood
