R electric prototype ended the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed as the winner with a hillclimb shootout with a time of 42.32 seconds, but this wasn’t the fastest the all-electric machine went over the weekend.Driven by Romain Dumas, the I.D. R made the run in 41.18s on Friday and then on Saturday Dumas went faster still with a 39.9s run up the Goodwood hillclimb course – well clear of Nick Heidfeld’s 41.6s record, set back in 1999 at the wheel of a McLaren MP4/13 Formula One car.
