TikTok is launching new donation stickers as a way for creators to raise funds from their live streams.
The move comes as many online platforms are adapting to allow creators to collect donations. Twitch saw tremendous growth through March and April as creators flocked to the live streaming platform. Now TikTok and Facebook are striking back with donation features of their own.
TikTok donation stickers are interactive and can be embedded in videos and live streams.
When a user taps one of the donation stickers, they will see a pop-up window to submit a donation. The donation platform uses Tiltify, a charitable fundraising platform, to process donations. TikTok is partnering with select organizations to celebrate the launch of the new feature.
TikTok will match user donations made through donation stickers until May 27. The hashtag #doubleyourimpact will be featuring on all streams that have donation stickers.
Michael Wasserman, CEO of Tiltify, says TikTok is the perfect partner to raise funds. “Tiltify was created to provide a simple but engaging way for charities and content creators to raise funds through popular social platforms,” he says. “The partnership with TikTok is our first mobile-driven integration and will make it easier than ever for hundreds of millions of TikTok users around the globe to support their favorite charities and causes.”
Some of the supported organizations for TikTok’s new donation stickers include:
- CDC Foundation
- James Beard Foundation
- Meals on Wheels
- National PTA
- National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation
- No Kid Hungry
- The Actors Fund
TikTok users can add a new donation sticker to any of their videos by clicking on the [COVID-19] sticker. Choose the organization you want to support and then embed the sticker on your video. Create a catchy caption and then share it with your TikTok followers to help raise funds for coronavirus relief.
